When you start the program you get the last list displayed you were working on and the find box is ready to accept something to find. Type what you want to find in this yellow box below the list and click the Find button or press the Enter key. To search again for the same data, click the Find Next button or press F3 on your keyboard.
All other lists are shown in the drop down blue box at the top of the screen. To choose another list just click on one of these entries. To create a new list, click the Create New List button and type a name for your file. To delete the current list displayed in the main blue box, click the Delete List button. There are checks on both these buttons to make sure you don't delete files by accident or create new files over old ones etc.
To add an entry, type in the green text box and click the Add Entry button or press the Enter key. Highlight an entry in the blue list and click the Delete Entry button to remove one. Double click an entry in the blue list to edit it in the green box. Click the Add Entry button after editing to put it back in the list. Click the Exit button to close the program or the Diary button to return to the diary.
IMPORT A LIST
You can select this option by clicking the Import List button in the bottom left of the screen. Most database programs e.g. Microsoft Works, Access, Lotus Approach etc., have a facility to export a database as a text file. Choose this Export option in the menu of the database program and make sure you choose to save your new file as a text delimited file with commas as field separators. Save this file somewhere easy to find but not in the folder for this program. I normally save files like this onto the desktop because it's the top option when you open the save file window.
Next, using this Import A List screen with a large yellow text box, click on the Open A Text File button and using the browse window, look for the text file you just exported from your database program. Highlight it and click Open to load it into the yellow text box. Here you can tidy up the list using the usual text editor facilities including copy, paste, undo etc. These commands can be found by right clicking with your mouse on the yellow text box. At the bottom of the screen is a Remove Inverted Commas button. Some database programs export your list with every phrase enclosed in quotes which can look a bit odd. If you click this button, all those quote marks will be removed. Remember also that it is one entry per line, so if the horizontal scroll bar appears on the yellow box or the text wraps to another line, some of that text to the right might not appear on your list. You could tidy this up by reducing the length of some entries.
Once you are happy with your list click the Save This File button. A pop up window will appear where you can type in a name for your new list. There are checks to make sure you don't save a list over an old one. Once saved you will automatically be taken back to the main List Keeper screen where your new list should be displayed.
